About Us

Gentle Threads was created in January 2004 when the owner, Bev Wilkinson bought an existing embroidery business.  Since that time the business has changed and grown with many new product lines being added to satisfy customer demand. 

Bev has over 20 years experience in the needlework/craft retail industry, with a love of cross stitch, ribbon embroidery plus many other styles of embroidery and a new interest in patchwork.  Her goal at Gentle Threads was to create a peaceful, tranquil shop with beautiful products and giftware, and classes in a friendly, warm atmosphere and, from the many comments from customers, this appears to have been achieved.

Due to this success it was a difficult decision to close the shop in January 2007 but with the desire to spend more time with family, Bev decided to operate the business through the website and craft markets and fairs.

Sharon Burmaz, a long time friend of Bev's, also has over 20 years experience in cross stitch, embroidery and quilting. Sharon helps at the craft fairs and is now designing and making quilts and other products which gives a variety of style to Gentle Threads' giftware range.
